How it all started
In the heart of Taiwan, where city vibes meet ancient tea traditions, Ron and Pat, a Canadian and American Born Taiwanese duo, found themselves on a unique journey that led to the birth of Odd One Out.
After over a decade all over Asia, they returned to Taiwan during the Covid-19 craze in 2020. Here, they discovered that tea and bubble tea in Taiwan were just on another level compared to the rest of the world. The tea scene wasn't just a drink – it was a lifestyle. Local shops were pushing boundaries and getting creative with their drinks, and Ron and Pat wanted to bring that vibe worldwide.
Their mission was simple: take Taiwan's amazing tea culture and elevate it to another level. To make it happen, they put together a dream team from Taiwan’s best.
Finally, they teamed up with The Lo & Behold, one of Asia’s top hospitality groups with a three Michelin star restaurant under their belt, for that extra touch. The result? Oddly delicious drinks that might make you do a double-take. The Best of Taiwan
Their first step involved collaborating with a Taiwanese Tea Expert. They were introduced to teas exclusively sourced from small-scale farms, learning from farmers, roasters, and producers the delicate process to cultivate the finest quality teas. These carefully selected teas serve as the fundamental building blocks for their beverages.
MasterChef Development
Then, as the pandemic closed down the nightlife, Ron and Pat hosted a MasterChef-like competition, inviting some of Taiwan's best mixologists to compete using their refined pallets and creativity in ingredients and techniques to create the first lineup of drinks.
